Giant Bird Boss Guide — Tuna Bait, Dive Bombs & Bird Head
Catch Tuna with the Professional Boss Lure, place it on the grass, defeat the giant bird, and turn in the Bird Head for the next island.
Triggering the bird fight
The Island 4 quest NPC explains the chain directly:
- Use a Professional Boss Lure to catch Tuna.
- Defeat/control the Tuna and keep it.
- Lay the Tuna on the grass.
- The enormous bird returns for the Tuna.
- Kill the bird.
- Bring back its Bird Head.
Video-tested: Completing the Bird Head hand-in gives access to Island 5, the volcano expedition.
Combat notes
The bird’s dive movement is the real problem. Players struggled to track it because it changes altitude quickly and can hit from above. Long-range weapons make sense, but raw damage still matters because missed windows stretch the fight.
Buildings can provide angles where the bird’s approach is easier to read. In one group, fighting from an area where they could actually see the dive path made the second attempt dramatically easier.
Watch for launch bugs
Player/video report: one multiplayer session described the bird encounter glitching for some players. If the bird becomes impossible to see or interact with, reloading/rejoining may be more sensible than assuming the quest item is missing. This is reported launch behavior, not an official fix.
Secure the Bird Head
As with other story trophies, grab the Bird Head before cleaning up ordinary chunks or gambling. The next-island reward is tied to the quest hand-in.
