Spider Crab Boss Guide — How to Stun It & Get Boat Keys
Beat Spider Crab in How to Fish by baiting its charge, attacking during self-stun windows, and returning the quest item for Boat Keys.
Before the fight
Get the Empty Beer Can from the Lighthouse Keeper quest and carry a Knife or Brass Knuckles plus one healing catch. Fighting completely bare-handed is possible to attempt but was much more dangerous in the supplied videos.
Core mechanic: let the crab stun itself
Video-tested: Spider Crab charges aggressively, but after certain rushes it enters a stunned/dizzy window. The safest pattern is:
- Keep enough distance to read the charge.
- Move off the attack line.
- Wait for Spider Crab to finish the rush and become vulnerable.
- Close in and attack during the self-stun.
- Back away before it recovers.
Do not waste the whole fight trying to create a stun with random hits if the boss is already giving you free vulnerability windows.
Time pressure
Players noticed a bar/timer during the encounter and saw failed attempts end with the target escaping. Treat the fight as a timed damage check: stay safe, but use every stun window.
After the kill
Keep the unique quest drop and return to the Lighthouse Keeper. That hand-in is what completes the first island progression and enables the boat.
