Magma Whale Final Boss Guide — Volcano Strategy & Despawn Rule

Volcano mission setup

On Island 5, the Military points you to a Scientist. Video-tested: she asks for smaller creatures so she can make bait for a large Whale. A multiplayer run describes handing in five creatures; another run also used easy catches such as snails for this step.

The Scientist then instructs you to defeat the Whale and throw it into the volcano to see what the heat does. That event leads into the final beast encounter.

Magma Whale attacks

Launch-day footage shows several extremely dangerous patterns:

• a high-damage leap/dive that lands near the player;
• rolling or “death roll” movement after landing;
• magma/fire hazards that can remain on the ground;
• very high burst damage with little room for mistakes.

Carry cooked food and keep inventory simple so dropped weapons are easier to recover after a death.

You cannot simply tow it away

Video-tested: a player repeatedly tried to lure Magma Whale away from the volcano toward safer buildings/casino terrain. The boss despawned when pulled too far from the volcano region. Build your strategy around fighting in the intended final area.

Weapon note

An upgraded Assault Rifle performed much better than Shotgun in the tested late-game run. The player specifically concluded that Shotgun damage was not keeping pace with the boss, while AR damage upgrades made a noticeable difference.

Bare-hands achievement

Needs confirmation: the achievement wording asks for defeating the final boss with bare hands. During the video, players discussed whether only the final hit needs to be bare-handed, but the supplied footage does not prove the exact trigger reliably enough to publish that as fact.
