Quest steps
Video-tested: The first island’s Lighthouse Keeper gives the early story quest commonly associated with Who Stole My Beer.
- Earn enough cash from clams/crabs or other early catches.
- Buy a Beer Can.
- Give the Beer Can to the Lighthouse Keeper. Do not drink it.
- Receive the Empty Beer Can used as bait.
- Fish with the Empty Beer Can to pull up Spider Crab.
- Defeat Spider Crab and keep the distinctive quest part.
- Return to the Lighthouse Keeper to unlock boat access.
Common mistake: drinking the beer
A launch-day player drank the Beer Can and immediately lost the item they needed for the quest. The correct interaction is to hand the unopened Beer Can to the Lighthouse Keeper so the quest can transform it into the Empty Beer Can bait.
Prepare before using the bait
The fight can punish a completely unarmed player. The videos recommend buying a Knife or Brass Knuckles first and carrying food. If Spider Crab escapes or you die repeatedly, fish a little longer rather than burning the quest attempt with no healing.
After the kill
Do not rush to sell every chunk. The first-island progression depends on completing the hand-in and receiving the ability to leave. If the boat still cannot be used, return to the quest NPC with the unique Spider Crab drop.
