How to Find 3 Leeches — Giant Piranha Quest
Find all 3 Leeches on the second island, turn them into Leech Bait, and avoid the common Giant Piranha quest mistakes.
You need 3 Leeches, not a water catch
Video-tested: Multiple supplied launch-day transcripts show the quest counter as 0/3 and explicitly say the Leeches are crawling on the ground around the island. They are pickups, not fish.
How to find them
Walk the quest area slowly while looking down at the terrain. Their small size is the real difficulty. One group lowered field of view so more ground was visible directly in front of them; that made scanning more comfortable, although it did not change spawn behavior.
After collecting all three, hand them to the quest NPC. She converts them into Leech Bait and warns that the target is dangerous without a gun.
What the bait summons
Leech Bait is the story trigger for Giant Piranha. The boss brings or creates many smaller piranhas, so do not use the bait while starving or with no weapon ready.
Why older guides may disagree
Version note: Some very early secondary pages circulated a different Leech count. The supplied in-game videos repeatedly show three. This page follows direct launch-day footage and should be rechecked if a later patch changes the objective counter.
Once the boss is down, keep the Giant Piranha Skeleton and return it to the quest giver to receive the next coordinates.
